The tuna fishing is as good as it gets on the OBX right now! The Wild Card is currently not in Wanchese, but that can be remedied in a few hours if we see any interest in folks wanting to fish. Just tossing this out there. Also contact us now if you want to get your name on a list for a potential makeup trip while the action is hot.

What an awesome offshore charter trip with Randy, Linda, Randy Lynch Jr and Robert Nolte from New London Texas. I don't remember many days any prettier offshore than today. We had a catch of yellowfin and blackfin tuna today. Wonderful day all in all and the folks went home with a nice stack of fresh tuna loins. Thank you for fishing with us!

We fished offshore with Emily and Diego Ruiz from Richmond Va, Javier and Lore Ruiz from Colombia and Brantley Slater from King William Va. The day started out quickly as the water conditions were very good. We caught a mahi pretty quickly. Then setting the baits back a very nice blue marlin came right up to our starboard middle rigger, swatted at it and went to the port middle and popped the clip. The hook was set and Diego was in for a long, tiring fight. We only had one good jump from the fish, it spent the whole time coming up almost to the leader and then it would head back down deep taking all the line gained again. About the time I thought we had the fish on it's last run and getting ready for a release, it "bill chafed" the leader at the back of the boat. We did not get to touch the leader, so it wasn't a legitimate catch/release, but I'd be willing to bet Diego will never forget this encounter. He did everything like he was supposed to with alot of encouragement from his family, but sometimes the fish is just too big! We ended up catching some nice yellowfin tuna and some mahi during the rest of the day and enjoyed a nice ride back in to the dock. I had a long time friend, that jumped on the boat for our Mate today, he did a great job. Thank you Jason! We enjoyed your company again, for our third trip together Emily, Diego and Brantley. We hope your family guests had a good time to. Enjoy that fresh fish and please do come see us again!

We enjoyed an offshore charter trip with Charles Smith, Lacey Campbell, Johnny Smith, Taylor Smith, Daniel Bruce and Dan Smith all from Georgia and Virginia. Well it wasn't our day to catch a boat load, just couldn't seem to get on top of them today. But you couldn't have asked for a prettier, calm day offshore. These folks were pleasurable and down to earth, my kind of people! Thank you for fishing with us today, that tuna on the grill is going to be hard to beat.

We ran an offshore charter trip with a very enjoyable makeup group. We had Tom Stewart from Nathalie VA, Trent Pulver from Leesburg VA, Mike Young from Va Beach, Mike Stone from Charlotte NC and Rich Stone from Manteo NC. The day started out with a stunning sunrise, surely painted by God Himself. We had a couple that really were hoping for a wahoo and wouldn't you know it, that was our first bite and in the ice box it went. Great start to what already was a beautiful day. The recent weather gave us water conditions that made for hard fishing, but our crew was happy to keep searching. About midday we found what we were looking for. All of sudden the water behind the boat erupted and we had a beautiful yellowfin tuna bite with three fish on! Our crew did a great job listening, dancing around deck keeping the lines straight and we ended up with all three in the boat! We had a short weather window to fish, with storm system Nestor coming uo the coast and we made the best of it. During the day we had a couple of sea canaries (small yellow sea birds) and a dark brown sea bird that stayed with us looking for refuge from the coming wind. The more I see the ocean the more I am in absolute awe of how very potentially dangerous and stronger than we could ever imagine, yet hold such seemingly small delicate/beautiful but tenacious animals. From a gorgeous "once in a lifetime" sunrise to whales popping right up beside the boat, some fantastic eating fish and a great group of folks to enjoy it all with.... it would really be hard to ask for more. Thank you fella's for spending your day with us.

Holy Smokes at the wind and weather we have had this last week! The good news is that it looks like it's going to take a more moderate trend this coming week. We have a Make-up offshore trip Oct 20, we could use some more folks if you are interested in fishing the Gulf Stream waters. I am anticipating a solid Fall fishing season, given the shear number of yellowfin/bigeye tuna and mahi we had this season. We generally fish right on through Thanksgiving, that's when this picture was taken last year. We certainly will fish later if we have folks that want to go. Fall fishing is personally my favorite time of the year, it can be cold at the dock and shirt sleeve warm offshore. Feel free to give me a shout, good fishing awaits.

9/24-25/2019
We enjoyed offshore charter trips with the same family/friend group from Harrisburg Pa. We had Danny Shaffer, Steve Shaffer, Dave Jurgaitas and Dusty Durand with us. First day we caught a couple Citation yellowfin tuna (77 & 89 pounds) and catch of mahi. The second day started off with a Citation wahoo and a decent catch of blackfin tuna. Needless to say there is a good amount if fresh fillets heading back home with them. Enjoyed having ya'll, hope your plans for coming back work out. See ya then.

Back in the day when I was a full time commercial fisherman, I had several deck hands that believed these old pelicans were the souls of "passed" fishermen that have come back to be with us. Fisherman as a rule I have found are for the most part a "spiritual/superstitious" lot of folks. While I cannot say that this pelican is a "passed on" old timer looking after us now, but it sure seems fitting to me. Love this place we try to make a living in.

We had a blast on our half day inshore charter with a family crew from Winchester, VA. We had Corey, Ashley, Chase and Tyler Hobbs as well as Golda Bryant. We fished in the Sound because the wind and seas were kicking pretty good. We ended up with a catch of pretty nice sized Spanish mackerel and bluefish. These folks fished with us a couple years back, the boys have obviously done some growing since then. Hope ya'll come back and see us again and enjoy the fresh fish!
-
9/11/2019
We are finally back in the water after the storm for a near shore charter with Daniel Hart, Bill Hart and Liz Novak from Fairfax Va. We had a beautiful ocean this morning with some willing Spanish mackerel and bluefish making an enjoyable morning with these folks. For the first day fishing since Hurricane Dorian, I believe it was plenty good. Thank you for spending your morning with us.
-
9/5/2019
Thursday morning here in Wanchese, getting ready to haul the Wild Card out for the storm. The bright halos on both sides of the sun are called "sun dogs", a harbenger of wind in the mariner's world. Yes indeed, Dorian is at the door. You guy's stay safe, we'll see ya when it's over.

The life of a Waterman goes from a drop dead gorgeous sunrise such as this, too looking down the barrel of a hurricane all in a week. The beauty and awe of our occupation is as real as our heartbeats. The struggle is to make it look easy, but when we do we've done our job as Our Creator would have us do. No explanation once in gets in your blood.

8/30/2019
We had an awesome makeup offshore charter trip with Al Balcerak Jr and Sean Jones from MD, Duane and Earl Clever from PA, Bill Mounteny and Jim Richardson from PA. This day started and ended with good fishing from yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna and a few mahi. This crew fell inline like a well oiled machine and started working together very quickly. We had a very enjoyable time with them, making some great memories along the way. Thank you guys so much for choosing us and we really hope to see you all again
-
8/29/2019
Another near shore charter trip with Jim & Tracey Duty, Jessica & Logan Portz from PA. We had a lot of fun with this crew today, not many dull moments here. Fishing was less than stellar, but these folks still had a great time with us and it was our pleasure to have them. Really hope to see y'all again.
-
8/28/2019
We ended up near shore with Abbie & Chad Brown, Kieth Laszek, Caleb Eckert and Rick Brongo from Rochester NY. We were planning on an offshore trip, but Mother Nature had other plans. We still made the best of it and had a good day. Thank you guys for fishing with us today.
-
8/20/2019
Offshore with Matt, Ryan, Luke and Steve Kline from New York and Florida. Pretty day out there today. Started out slow but we ended up with a good day with blackfin tunas, mahi and a few skipjacks. The fella's did good with the rods and fish today. Going home with a pretty good pile of meat. Thank you for fishing with us today.
-
8/19/2019
Half day inshore morning with a family group from Disputanta Va. We had David, Leah, Trey and Angel Newton with us on a slick calm morning. The troll bite was slow, but we did end up catching and releasing 8 of these beauties. If you zoom the pictures in abit you can clearly see the schools of these red drum. Our folks had a good time on spinning gear and jigs. Thank you for spending the morning with us. Beautiful job!
-
8/13/2019
Offshore with Pete, Pete Jr and Nick Ferranto from Landendurg Pa with us today. We had enough bites to stay busy enough with this father and his son's. We had a good time and I learned there were actually mushroom farmers. Guess I never really thought about it, but what I was told was interesting sure enough. Thank you guys for spending the day with us. Hope to see you again.
-
8/12/2019
Half day morning trip with a family/friend group from NJ. We had Andy, Trisha and Dylan Gleason, Andrea LeClair and Michael Schipske with us. We ended up catching some albacore on light tackle, on a slick calm ocean. Thank you folks for fishing with us this morning.
-
8/9/2019
We enjoyed a half day inshore charter trip with a makeup group from all over. We had Benny Hindman and Danny Cluster from WV, Ed and Gavin Denmead, with Liv Huffman from NJ. Chris Hammerstrom from Panora Iowa. We had an enjoyable morning watching these folks strike up conversation in between bites. This morning trip came to an end too quickly for us. Thank you for giving us a call to get a trip together for ya'll. Hope to see you folks back again.
-
8/8/2019
We had a half day inshore charter trip with a family group from Fredericksburg Va. consisting of Ted, Tara, Lindsey, Teddy and Coco Durant with us on a beautiful morning inshore. We caught a few fish near the beach, before switching up and coming inside to the Sound to try our luck. Slow fishing but we managed to have a good morning. Thank you for spending the morning with us.
-
8/7/2019
We went on an offshore charter with John Metzler and Lonnie Sproull from Pa, Marshall and Albina Smith from Co. It was a tuna or bust day for us and we had tuna jumping all around on a slick calm day. In these slick calm conditions the tuna are practically lack jawed. We did catch a yellowfin tuna and a few blackfin tuna along with a Hail Mary wahoo. Our mate Rachael pushed through the day with a killer migraine. She experienced tough going in the hot sun but she carried on like a champ.
-
8/6/2019
Today's charters were both inshore and unfortunately it was a slow day inshore, but at least the Outer Banks weather was fitting. In the morning we had Tom & Tyler Mouton, Kyle, Keven & Donnie Falk, Mike Garrison all from Port Huron Michigan. Our afternoon trip we had David Renck, Jeff Gibson, Aaron and Caleb Camp from Kansas City. Great guys made the experience fun despite the reluctant fish.
-
8/2/2019
We ventured offshore with the Boyz from Queens NYC! We had Anthony & Matt Snadecky, Dan Plonski, Joeseph Jameson, Nick Palazzolo and Zach Elbiyali with us today. This was a "bachelor party" fishing trip for Matt put on by his brother Anthony and their buddies. These fella's were all about fishing and having a good time. We had several multiple hook-ups with the blackfin tuna. We had three big bites during the day. The first was a large shark that was released unharmed. Second was a very nice sickle fin lost boat side. The last being a nice tuna that pulled the hook in the very last minutes of the trip. I will remember this trip for along time! These guys were awesome and the only ones I have ever seen who could out talk our Mate Rachael! Matt I wish you and your Bride-to-Be nothing but the best. I really enjoyed being involved with your day. A really great bunch of young men here in my opinion, surely would love to have you back anytime.

8/1/2019
Another pair of inshore half day trips started out slow but we put the first one together toward the end. We were in the middle of crew change and I forgot to get the names of our morning crew from New Jersey. Our second trip of the day found us with a group of three from Dresden Germany. We had Bernd Zimmermann, Franz Puhl and Peter Horn with us. I speak zero German, but these guy's spoke fishing and we had a good time doing it. Thank you folks for fishing with us today. We hope you enjoy your time here on the Outer Banks.
-
7/31/2019
We had a pair of inshore half days with Adrian & Tim Baker from Aurora Illinois, we fished inside the Sound because fishing in the ocean was really slow. Our second trip of the day was a "Buddy Boat" trip with Capt Johnny on the Miss Nell. We had Mike Rutten, Richie Theusch, Bret Novak and Jason Janu all from Minnesota on the Wild Card. Lane Rutten, Carter Janu, Mike Beckman and Tony Laabs were on the Miss Nell. As much as I hate to admit it, the youngster's beat us older guys up pretty good, with help from Capt Johnny. I can honestly say this trip was a hoot! Hope to see you folks again, might have to make that trip to Minnesota after all. Thank you for spending the day with us.
-
7/29/2019
We headed offshore with Matt Schmitt, Norman Yanc, Bronson Yanc and Justin Hall from Meadville Pa. Today it was slick calm with a nice gentle ride out there to the Gulf Stream and back. Our day was nothing more than a good time catching some great eating yellowfin tuna. We didn't knock it out of the park, but between the beautiful weather and some solid yellowfin tuna I'll take it. It was calm enough today to really get a good look at just how many sharks are falling in behind our boats these days. The "naysayers" that stand on their soapbox saying the sharks are endangered evidently haven't been here lately. At any rate we ended up with a nice stack of tuna loins which are headed toward some great meals. Thank you for spending the day with us today.
-
7/28/2019
What an awesome heartwarming trip with a father/son crew of Albee and Miles Gallegos from Albuquerque New Mexico. We found ourselves catching some pretty spanish mackerel along the beach and had an enjoyable day with Miles doing the majority of the catching. This young man wanted to 100% catch some fish and we had a good time doing it. Thank you for spending your day with us today and we hope you enjoy the rest of your time on the Outer Banks.
-
7/27/2019
We went offshore with Ove Johansen and crew from Hagerstown Md. Today had it's challenges starting with a roiled up ocean that made it a hard go for anyone not doing this in a daily fashion. We had bites right from the start, but it proved difficult to stay hooked up with it so snatchy (as we call it). We found a very willing group of nice tuna that were stolen from us quickly by sharks. After 5 hook-ups and losses we had enough and moved away from them. We had a sailfish take a bait, it made two jumps and threw the hook. Our last bite came in the very last minutes, taking line quickly and giving us a jolt of hope for a few minutes. Instead of being targeted fish, it too ended up being a shark that was brought boat side and released. Happy to have gotten the day in with these guys.

7/24/2019 & 7/25/2019
Mother Nature has decided that we needed to stay inshore for the couple days we fished this week. July 24th we had Jim Hawkes from SC, Ellen Hawkes and Andrew Wiggin from Denver with us. July 25th we had Richard Elliot, Bill Halagarda, Dan Scott, Tony Cavey, Steve Huettner and Jeff Rupert from the Baltimore area. Both groups were just looking to chill out and catch a few fish. We enjoyed both days with ya. Hope ya'll enjoy the rest of your time here on the beach.

7/19/2019
July 19th For our 3/4 day Oregon Inlet inshore/near shore charter we had a family group with David, Rachael & Bekki Powell and Diane Balderson from Apez NC. Today's fishing trip was a birthday gift to Miss Rachael (kneeling behind the sign) from her family. We found some schools of bluefish tearing up surface bait first thing. Then we worked our way down to try to find a few spanish mackeral. We did find a few but the bluefish were our day maker. We enjoyed having y'all on the boat with us this morning. It was a pleasure to be part of your birthday Miss Rachael!

7/17/2019
July 17th offshore with a group from the Wounded Warrior Project. We had Rusty Baggett, Anthony Velicka, Jeff Way, Stephen Smith, Primo Ramos and Earl Witman today. It was once again our pleasure to have these folks aboard with us today. Like usual, good times with some fish and laughs thrown in. Our first bite of the day was a blue marlin that was hooked up and given to Stephen, but the sharks got to it before we could seal the deal. Next bite was this 112 pound bigeye tuna that Primo beat up (well somebody got beat up) and got it to the boat. We had two more bigeyes that were hooked, but the sharks had their way with them too. Ended up the day with a few blackfin tuna and a mahi. I was told that our OBX Marina fish cleaner Richard Moore, hooked these guys up with extra goodies too! Always happy to have you fella's aboard, you are welcome any time. I really feel humble, that you have chosen us to be "your boat". Thank you again for all you have done and look forward to next time. Capt Frank

7/16/2019
July 16th offshore with Paul, Jacob & Mitchell Gaboury, Bill Monast, Rob DeLeon and Kyle Boyd all from Cumberland Rhode Island. I believe this picture sums up our day pretty well with these guys. It certainly was good to have ya'll onboard wiith us today. Please do come see us again, next time you are down on the OBX.
-
7/15/2019
July 15th offshore with a family group down here on an OBX vacation. We had James & Brenda Fornos, Collin Fornis, Jennifer Ludwig, Nathan and Jeff Jacko. It was a hot, still day out there today. We ended up with a catch of blackfins, giant albacores, mahi and two sailfish that were released by our crew. Our crew did good getting our tuna's in before the sharks got them.
-
7/13/2019
July 13th offshore with our Spring "Cabin Fever" contest winner Nick Borrajo and crew of Kyle Wiley, Weston Walker, Luke Walker, Jacob Lail from Charlotte NC. A beautiful day was spent with these folks, caught a handful of fish and yes the sharks are alive and well here still. Unbelievable how big and plentiful they are! We certainly enjoyed the day with ya'll. Thank you for taking the time to enter our contest, hope to see ya'll again.
-
7/11/2019
July 11th half day inshore with Kyle Appell, Beth McCarty, Robby & Reed Parker and Nicole Salle. We had a good time this morning, with 100% crew involvement. These folks were a hoot! Thank you for fishing with us again, hope to see ya next year.
-
7/10/2019
July 10th offshore make-up trip with Corey Munn, Jim Kucko, Mike Wichowski from up state NY and Tex Rader and sister Terry Scott from W Va. Sorry guy's, I somehow lost the pictures I had taken at the dock. But we had a couple early bigeye tuna bites that quickly turned into shark breakfast. After picking up and moving a few mile we caught a nice yellowfin and a couple mahi. It was a tough day fishing for us, but these folks were plenty nice! Thank you for spending the day with us. Hope to see you again here on the OBX.
-
7/9/2019
July 9th we ran a half day morning near shore charter trip. We had Shane Michalek, Jordan, Seth, Braeden, Matt & Laura Schmidt from Pa. We enjoyed ya'lls company and hope to see you back again.
-
7/4/2019
July 4th inshore with a couple trips today. We had Scott & Ashlyn Collins, Duane & Sara Thomas from Olean NY. It was a beautiful slick calm morning, but the fish weren't exactly jumping in boat. To add insult to injury, we lost a really nice king mackeral right at the back of the boat! I can only add that these two young Lady's were an absolute pleasure to have hanging out on the flybridge with me today. Our afternoon trip had Scott, Chaz & Hunter Hammock, John Henn and Dalton Wallace all from Southern Georgia. We had a good afternoon catching a few fish (including one really nice red drum) with these guys. Hope to see you back again.
-
7/2/2019
July 2nd offshore with a group from St Louis Mo. We had Steve & Joe Rothermel, Randy Cander, Ross Hemmann and Tanner Fry with us today. What a difference a day can make out there, the fish were much more willing today. This was an enjoyable bunch of guys, that enjoyed fishing. I even learned that St Louis has a pro Hockey Team, thanks Steve! Hope you come back and see us, here on the OBX.
-
7/1/2019
July 1st offshore charter with Erik & Julian Thingvol, Mark & Declan Szostczuk from Asheville NC. It seemed like we just couldn't catch a break today, it was hard/slow fishing for us. Days like this keep us humble out there. Thank you for fishing with us today and for being so patient.
-
6/30/2019
June 30th half day inshore with Lisa Tarbox, Mallory, Makenna & Joseph Serman and Tom Rudis. It was good to see Miss Lisa with her family and Tom again too. Just a pleasant day talking some youngsters out for their first day fishing. Pretty sure the smiles can say it better than I can, doesn't get much better for me. Thank you folks for spending another day with us, hope to see ya again soon.
-
6/29/2019
June 29th offshore with Steve Martin, Jeff Martin, Dewayne Ward, Rob Tenney, Mike Akexander and Jamie Reeves. We started the day out deep dropping for some tasty blueline tilefish and we did pretty good. One of these fish weighed 18 pounds, that's a nice one! We fished the rest of our day catching some bkackfin tuna's to add to the table. Thank you for spending your day with us. Hope you enjoy those fresh fillets.
-
6/27/2019
Holy Smokes time to get caught back up again, with our fishing reports. 6/27 we had two half day trips with Corey, Rita, Caleb and Zoe Beard from Rockfird Illinois on our first trip in the morning. Mark & Carolyn Lee from Akron Oh, Mike Nash & Martha Chumney from Va, and Alex & Christina from NJ on our afternoon make-up trip. A very enjoyable day all the way around. Thank you folks for fishing with us today.
-
6/22/2019
June 22nd offshore with this crew from Virginia! We had Dave Buracker, Byron Heisler, Buck Black, Tony Blakely, Corey Cantrell and Atis Stone with us on a busy bite today. This was one of those days you're not gonna forget for all of us. Great group of fella's that got a pretty healthy work out from some frisky tuna! The bites were nothing short of awesome and some pretty blistering runs were made. We ended up loosing a few fish that pulled the hook, but the sharks got their share of the catch too. These guys were a ball and we hope to see them again. Gonna be some great grilled tuna steaks right there!
-
6/21/2019
June 21st inshore with this newlywed couple of Matt & Kate Hunzer from Bridgeton NJ. If your first salt water fishing trip together is any indication of a great marriage, then this one will be good for a long time. Thank you both for spending the day with us and we wish you nothing but the best!
-
6/20/2019
June 20th inshore with the family group of Susan, Chris, Mariah, Dailyn, Landon & Brian Smith/Beckett. We had a good day of "first's" today, fishing along the beach. We had initially intended to make this a near-shore trip, but Mother Nature had another idea about the weather. We made the best of it and enjoyed the day with these folks. We hope ya'll enjoy the rest of your vacation on the Outer Banks.
-
6/19/2019
June 19th offshore with some of our WWP Family. We had Rusty Baggett, Tim Cheek, Anthony Velicka, Rasheed Ogedengbe and Dale Jensen with us today. Another very enjoyable day on the Wild Card with some very appreciated US Veterans. The day started out very slowly for us trolling, but a command decision was made to go deep drop bottom fishing to put some meat on the table. This proved to be the ticket for this group of guy's and we got it done! I can't say how much these folks are like "family" to us here. Myself and my wife are both Veteran's, (as are several of our family members), that said groups such as these will always have a place on our decks! Thank you again for such a great day for us, looking forward to more memories to come.
-
6/18/2019
June 18th offshore with Ryan & Roy Lupton, from St Louis and Franklin Va. This was one of those "meant to be" days, for this repeat father/son team. First bite came together as a screamer 70lb wahoo bite that worked out perfectly. Then it was a steady buy but scattered bite for some tasty mahi and a king mackerel. We had a good day with these fellas again. Hope you guy's enjoy many tasty meals from today's catch. Thank you for choosing us again!
-
6/16/2019
June 16th with an offshore variety make-up charter trip. We had Michele & Pat Smith from Fla, Matt Cambell from Va, Donna & Jonathon Rice from Va and Jacob West from NC with us today. As is usually the case, this was an awesome "make-up" group of folks from all over. Michele got the ball rolling by booking the date and type of trip and we put it together from there. We had a gorgeous catch of blueline tilefish, that actually are some of the tastiest fish in the ocean. I have to say that bringing in these fish from down deep is work, but our crew was up for the task. If we went too long without a bite, we handed the rod over to Miss Donna and it would immediately get a bite or two. She definitely had the touch today! Thank you folks for such an enjoyable day, ya'll definitely have some great eating there.
-
6/15/2019
Being busy is a good thing, but it's time to get caught up on fishing reports! Offshore June 16th with David Powell, Don Lassiter, Kent Gilliam and John Metzner from Apex NC. We had a beautiful day out on the ocean today, they don't come much calmer than this. This was an enjoyable group of friends to have on the boat today. Thank you for spending the day with us.
-
6/9/2019
June 9th offshore with a very familiar family group today, that didn't disappoint in any way. We had Vince, Nick and Anthony Royalty, with family friend James Armstrong. There was alot of joking and jabbing on this day, all in good fun. The day started out slow, but we ended up with a pretty steady pick of mahi. We stuck around alittle longer than usual because we just needed that "one last bite" and we got it. We had a beautiful bigeye tuna bite, that beat Nick up pretty well before we ended up pulling the hook. A heart breaker, but just the chance to feel that power on the other end of the line is what fishermen live for. Sure am looking forward to our next trip with these guys. "Katherine, wish you were here "
-
6/8/2019
June 8th offshore with a family group from Damascus Md. We had John Garofalo, Brandin Miller, Sam Miller, Jack Miller, Kade and Chris Owens. We covered alot of bottom and miles today, trying to get these young fishermen on some hot fishing. But today proved to be a tough day for us, we caught some small tuna that we threw back, had a mahi lost right at the rail and our only bigeye bite came very late in the day was lost quickly. Days like this are very humbling to this Captain, but no two days are alike out there. I found out late in the day that Sam Miller has his eyes set on becoming a mate and Captain in his future. I wish him the very best with this endeavor. Very nice young men we had today.
-
6/7/2019
June 7th offshore make-up trip with Bryan Totten, Jim Land and Brad Cottle from W Va, Jason Daniels from Pa. We had good weather and some pretty nice bites. These guys were an enjoyable make-up for us. Hope ya'll enjoy those fresh fillets.

6/5/2019
June 5th offshore with Kathy & JJ Winterhalter and family friend Grier Cliff all from Columbia SC. There are some days that are simply meant to be and this was one of them. Beautiful ride out, bites within minutes of setting out and finishing up with a 155lb bigeye tuna. Nothing else but thank you to the Good Lord above and to the charter customers that choose to fish with us. Hope you folks enjoy the rest of your OBX get away and the many tuna steaks on the grill. They come no fresher!

5/27/2019
This flag and certificate was brought to us this morning by a much appreciated group of currently "Serving" young men. I promise this priceless item will be hung in a very special place in our home. The fella that booked the trip today was with us on a very memorable day two years ago. Today was destined to be memorable, but in not in the same way. It was well beyond the little snotty we are accustomed too and ended up snapping our port outrigger causing our trip to quickly come to an end. So our fishing report for today will conclude with a safe return to port and a huge heart felt thank you to all of our men and women of the Armed Forces of America. Freedom isn't and never has been free, Godspeed Brothers!
-
5/22/2019
May 22nd offshore with Frank and Michelle Paone, Jim and Dan Wheelock, Daniel Kreycik from Az and Pa. Add another rough day to our tab! Our crew did a good job and we enjoyed their company. Hope y'all enjoy the rest of your time here on the OBX.
-
5/20/2019
May 20th offshore with Rick Gruver, Scott Connors, Joe Dooling, Mike Tinari and Thomas Giev from South HamptonPa. Pretty rough ocean today, with slow fishing for us. Had a chance to let go of the rail long enough to snap one picture.
-
5/17/2019
May 17th offshore with Justin Baker and Pete Madge from Boston Mass. Days like today keep me humble. The day offshore was rough to start with and predicted to get worse with increasing winds forecasted. So it was pretty much wherever we started our day, was going to be where we had to fish because running elsewhere wasn't an option. We started where I thought was going to be the best place to spend the day and we fished it hard, not finding the water I was looking until the very end of the day. These two fella's enjoy fishing and that was very apparent all day and I really enjoy folks like that. Everyday isn't going to be a "slammer" no matter how hard you try out there. A humbling place that ocean can be and we'll never figure it all out, I believe that's what keeps us going back. Thank you guys for spending your day with us, hope to see you back later in the season.

May 16th half day day with Kerribeth and Mary Elliott, Sherry Rudolph and Jeanette Weedman, Darlene and Amanda Dones. The Northerly winds of the last few days pushed alot of cold water onto our beaches here. Fishing was slow, but the company was good. These Lady's enjoyed their morning together catching a few fish for super. We hope you enjoy the rest of your time here on the Outer Banks.

May 14th offshore with Christopher, Elizabeth and David Derrick, David and Kathryn Hood and Alex Carlson. We found the seas rough and the sharks eating extremely well today. We had several tuna eaten by the sharks that just seem to be getting thicker by the day around here. There is no shortage of them here, that's just a fact. He had a few dolphin and a blackfin before our crew said "let's head home". Thank you for spending your day with us.

May 12th offshore, some days are just meant to be, this was one of those days. We had Jimmy and Katie, Casey, Jimmy Sr, Jeannie and Kenny Earp. This was a family group from West Va and Virginia, that were excited to spend a day out on the ocean. Weather wise the ocean was rough, with a forecasted front on it's way through. We managed to catch some pretty/great eating mahi (dolphin) and caught a suprise blue marlin. To say it was a memorable day is an understatement. This was our crew and my mate's (Chris), first opportunity to see much less catch a very nice blue marlin. It was a group effort and you guys did an awesome job! The fish was leadered, unhooked and released healthy to fight another day. Thank you to Jeannie for the pictures and video she took on a windy rough day. And a big tip of my hat goes to Miss Katie, who not only felt bad all day but put a whoopin' on that marlin.

May 10th offshore with Max Hasenstab, Scott Coghill and Josh Mayfield. Was abit on the bumpy side heading out and the grass was like a hayfield when we got to the grounds. We scrapped out a catch and had a good day with our crew. Hoping to see these guys back in the near future.

April 30th offshore with Charles Dean, Kevin McSwain, David Childers, Tyler Nairn and Nick Webb all from Spartanburg SC. Couldn't have asked for a nicer ride out and fishing conditions for the day. This was the first time out in the ocean for some of these fellas and they found out yellowfin tuna pull just a wee bit harder than the inland fresh water fish most are used too. Had a good day guy's, hope you enjoy that fresh tuna.

April 23rd offshore with George and Billie Crawford from Cedar Pt NC, Robbie and Laura Fonvielle from Mt Olive NC and John Crawford from Benson NC. This was one really enjoyable day for me, good fishing with nice folks on a beautiful spring day. We had enough action to keep our crew in anticipation for the next bite. And did I mention that it was a drop dead gorgeous day offshore? Thank you folks for spending the day with us, hope to see y'all again. Enjoy that fresher than fresh tuna!

April 18th offshore with a pretty motley crew of friends, just to get out before the season gets rolling. Pretty slow fishing, but we did scrap out a catch of three yellowfin's. Had a good day of letting our hair down on a beautiful ocean for most of the day and brought home some fresh tuna. Really what it's all about. We had Steve, Mike, Paula, Rich and Banana Bob onboard with us. An enjoyable day for sure, making a good start for our season.

We got our first look at the ocean since early December yesterday. It's been a long arduous winter around here, but I believe the blood/sweat and tears have paid off. Took the opportunity to run out the Inlet, to check out the bar and very well marked channel leading out past the bridge. A big thank you to our Coast Guard for laying the channel bouys out so well!. So we can say we are back in our slip at OBX Marina and 100% ready to roll for this 2019 season. Looking very much forward to getting back into the groove and doing what we love. Come see us!

Coming and going, that's a wrap. Last coat of lipstick, zincs, running gear paint, new rails, compound/wax, etc...... I swear this old thing is gonna be the death of me. Time to get wet and make some smoke.

She still has some shine left in her! This old girl just needs a little bit of lipstick (bottom paint) and she can go back overboard. I still have some odds and ends stuff to do, but I like where I'm at for the moment. Better than ever she'll be.
